It starts with Hello!

A Message to Parents:

Each year, thousands of schools and youth organizations nationwide participate in Start With Hello Week, a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth. The Promotion is sponsored by Sandy Hook Promise.

The idea is to encourage our students to take notice of others around them. If they notice a person who seems to be alone the plan is simple: 1) See someone alone 2) Decide to help 3) Start with hello. It seems simple, but when a person finds friends and acceptance, they are less likely to be involved in school violence, self-harm and/or depression.

Our School Counselor will be focusing on friendship in his guidance lessons. If you have questions, contact Mr. Dye at dviddye@misdmail.org
